Bowness-on-Windermere
Bowness-on-Windermere is a sprawling tourist town on the shore of Windermere, about halfway along the 12 mile length of the lake between Waterhead at the North end, and Lakeside at the South end. It developed after the opening of the railway line from Oxenholme and Kendal to Windermere in 1847. Bowness was the nearest accessible point on the lake. Bassenthwaite Lake
Bassenthwaite Lake is one of the largest lakes in the Lake District of England. It is long and narrow, approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) long and 3/4 mile wide, but is also extremely shallow, with a maximum depth of about 70 feet (21 m). The lake lies at the foot of Skiddaw, near the town of Keswick.
