Recife is the fourth largest Metropolitan area in Brazil and the capital of the state of Pernambuco. The population was 1,549,980 in 2007. Recife is located where the Beberibe River meets the Capibaribe River to flow into the Atlantic Ocean. It is a major port on the Atlantic Ocean. The name Recife means "reef" in Portuguese, in allusion to the coral reefs that are present by the city's shores. The many rivers and bridges found in Recife characterize its geography and gives it the moniker of the "Brazilian Venice".

A Coruna in Spanish La Coruna is the second largest city in Galicia in northwestern Spain, second only in size to the port of Vigo in the Pontevedra Province. The city is also the capital of A Coruña Province and it was the capital of Galicia from the year 1563 to 1982 when it moved to Santiago de Compostela.

Ferrol is a city in the Province of A Coruña in Galicia. Located on the Atlantic coast in north-western Spain, it has urban population of 77,859 and metropolitan area of over 241,528 (2007).

Ares is a city council of Ferrolterra in North-western Spain in the Province of A Coruña with an area of 18.51 km²(7.15 mi²).
