Tampere is a city in southern Finland located between two lakes, Nasijarvi and Pyhajarvi. Since the two lakes differ in level by 18 metres (59 ft), the rapids linking them, Tammerkoski, have been an important power source throughout history, most recently for generating electricity. Tampere is dubbed the "Manchester of Finland" for its industrial past.

Poriis a city and municipality on the west coast of Finland. The centre of the city it located some 15 km from the coast of Gulf of Bothnia, at the estuary (the largest of those in Finland) of Kokemaenjoki river. Pori is part of the province of Western Finland and is the most important town in the Satakunta region.
