Kennedy Bay also called Kennedy's Bay and Harataunga is a locality in the north eastern Coromandel Peninsula of New Zealand.

Cradled by Bastion Pt on one side and Paritai Drive on the other, it's as peaceful a spot as you'll find on the bustling waterfront. Not for Okahu Bay the cafe strips of Mission Bay and St Heliers. Commercial activity is confined to a Mr Whippy van, parked near the changing sheds in the middle of the bay at weekends.

The town of Pauanui meaning Big Paua (abalone) in Maori is on the east coast of the Coromandel Peninsula in the North Island of New Zealand. It lies at the mouth of the Tairua River on its south bank, directly opposite the larger town of Tairua.

The volcanic peak, Paku, and off shore views of the jagged Aldermen Islands are the natural focal points of the Tairua area. Large areas south of the river, between Pauanui and Wharekawa Harbour (Opoutere), are dominated by exotic forests. North of Tairua is the rugged coastal area of Sailors Grave - an area for a fine half day coastal work. Inland, the Tairua River runs to the sea from its source in the Coromandel Range, snaking through historic Broken Hills on its journey.

Takapuna Beach is just a few steps from the bustling but laid-back shopping centre of Takapuna. It not only offers beautiful views across the harbour, fine white sand and safe swimming but also some excellent examples of lava-encased fossilised trees--covered by one of Auckland's many volcanic eruptions, 150,000 years ago. From Takapuna Beach you can walk south to Narrow Neck Beach or North to Milford Beach. Both walks are best done at low tide.

Thames is an historical town situated between the calm waters of the Firth of Thames and the majestic ranges of the Coromandel. Thames is a great place to base yourself when visiting the Coromandel Peninsula. Most places on the Coromandel are within 1 to 1.5 hours drive from the township and of course there's lots to keep you busy - whether you enjoy browsing through our numerous and varied speciality shops, delving into Thames' colourful history, participating in some of our sporting activities or experiencing our beautiful forests and coastlines.

Waiheke Island is the second largest island (9,324 hectares) within the Hauraki Gulf. It is 26 km long and 19 km across at its widest point, with rolling hills that reach 230 metres at the highest point. Its name translated means cascading waters which refers to the waterfalls now within the Whakanewha Regional Park. It is a unique island settlement close to Auckland with a resident population of about 7,000 spread out around the numerous bays and beaches mainly grouped at the western end.

Waihi is one of the most famous gold mining towns in New Zealand, the history of this pioneering period is apparent everywhere. It differs though from other parts of the region in that still today a rich goldmine is in full production, hiding behind leafy slopes behind the main street. For those who favour the simple life, with amenities of course, Waihi is ideal. The town has a compact shopping and accommodation area, with not a mall in sight. Old wooden buildings guard the corners, high noon without the guns. A short drive east of the town, Waihi Beach is a safe beach with white sand, shells and sea fishing.

Spanning between the Coromandel Peninsula and Bay of Plenty beaches, Waihi Beach is one of the undiscovered jewels of New Zealand. A beautiful 9km of one of the safest and best ocean beaches to be found.

Whangaparaoa is fast becoming urbanised--many residents commute to Auckland central on a daily basis. At the tip of the peninsula is the Shakespear Regional Park with facilities including swimming, bush walks, fishing and camping and the Gulf Harbour Country Club. Meaning "Bay of Whales", Whangaparaoa was initially settled by the Ngati Kahu tribe and did not see European settlement until the 1850s. Today the still undeveloped parts of the peninsula feature regenerating forests of puriri, taraire, kowhai and karaka. Native birds are much in evidence as well. Sandstone cliffs separate sandy beaches (with safe swimming) and make for interesting walks.
