Welcome to Adagia Restaurant, Berkeley, United States . At Adagia, we ask you to join our table because we are bringing great things to it. Things like the immediacy of great ingredients grown by local farms. We work directly with many of these farmers so we bring you the vibrancy of foods grown in their season, without being transported long distances to get to us. We hope you will join our table and support local farmers and sustainable methods of growing. Originally the Great Hall of Westminster House, where the minister entertained visiting dignitaries and faculty, our main dining room has seating for approximately 100 people. A large communal table and fireplace dominate the large room. The room has hardwood floors, wood-lined walls and a coffered ceiling with the original chandeliers restored to their 1920 charm.

Our outdoor patio has seating for approximately 60 people. It is filled with beautiful plantation-grown teak tables and chairs. Umbrellas and radiant heaters provide protection from the elements.

Our private dining room with seating up to 12, has a fireplace, stained glass windows and a private entrance for service to assure limited interruptions and privacy. This room was originally a chapel for Westminster House. Still owned by the Presbyterian Church, the building was lovingly restored and remodeled to accommodate Adagia Restaurant in 2003. Originally built in 1926 by famed architect Walter Ratcliff, Westminster House is a historic Landmark making it a distinctive choice when hosting a business luncheon, special event or celebration.

Our tables were custom made for us by the Wooden Duck in Berkeley. They are made from reclaimed lumber, using wood from old barns and bridges. Our 14 foot communal table was also made for us by Wooden Duck and is the soul of our dining room, offering a unique dining experience for large parties and creating community. The seeds for Adagia were planted in the late 90s as owner Daryl Ross and Westminster Minister Randy Bare conversed about philosophy, community and their mutual desire to make the then run-down building more accessible to the public and less of an enigma. For Daryl Ross, Adagia was a logical outgrowth of his continued interest in making organic and locally grown foods accessible for the campus community. Six years after those initial conversations, Adagia Restaurant opened its doors in February 2005. At Adagia we ask you to "Join our Table". Our goal is for this table to bring you local ingredients, simply prepared. The best ingredients from local, organic farms, that didn't need to be transported thousands of miles to come to us. It should be a table that brings together family and community. We hope that our table makes this food and experience accessible to everyone.
