Allen Stoneware Gallery, Erie United States
In 1976 the gallery was established by the owner Vickie Allen as a retail store and studio. Located in the Colony Plaza by Presque Isle State Park, the gallery offers pottery, jewelry, sculpture, pastels, pastel prints, and showcases custom personalized pottery recognized as unique Erie keepsakes.
Allen Stoneware Gallery expanded in both physical space and scope offering pottery classes five days a week, year round. Please visit the in-store gallery and tour the pottery classroom studios.
Allen Stoneware Gallery's first class focuses on wheel throwing with an introduction to hand building. Students begin with developing a basic pot and then progress to mugs, bowls, plates and other pottery forms. These pieces are food safe, which can easily be used in the kitchen or given as gifts. Students are guided through moving the clay from the moist wet state to leather-hard, to the chalk-like bisque, then are glazed in a "dip and pour" method. Classes finish with an all-student kiln opening party!
