The Barramundi Discovery Centre in Karumba, Queensland, Australia is the Gulf's primary Barramundi hatchery and their work is critical to ensure there is fish for a Fishing future. Here they place barramundi eggs from spawning females into hatching tanks overnight then remove them into a pond, after 3 weeks the pond is pumped, and the baby barramundi are separated into growing tanks by size, where they are fed and grow until they are released into rivers and waterways. The Barramundi Discovery Centre offers tours and has a gift shop for souvenirs and unique barramundi leather goods, as well as products made from emu, shark, sea snake, ostrich, crocodile, and cane toad. You can even adopt a hatchery barramundi, with adoption certificate and updates on size, weight and disposition of your fish, and you get the opportunity to release the fish back into the wild when it's ready.
