The Breakers Inn, Scarborough, is a bed and breakfast Inn located directly on the Atlantic Ocean at Higgins Beach. Built as a private home in 1900, it has served the public since the early 1930s. There are 15 guest rooms, each with a private bath. All accommodations in the main building have a view of the ocean.

Traditional New England fare is offered in our dining room. We serve a full breakfast each day and picnic lunches during the summer season. Located eight miles south of Portland, Higgins Beach is a non-commercialized, residential community. The beach is one half mile long with a gradual slope.

The Breakers Inn, Scarborough, USA has been operated by the Laughton family since 1956.

In 2007, The Breakers was certified as a "Green Lodging Establishment" by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. We endeavor to do business with local food producers and use business practices that are environmentally responsible. We compost and recycle as much as possible. A recycling bin is located at the primary exit for the use of our customers.

A member of our staff lives at The Breakers Inn and we endeavor to have someone on duty at all times.
