Carestel, the Belgian Restaurant chain, has chosen Varberg, on the Swedish west coast, as the location for a new central kitchen to supply its growing number of establishments in Scandinavia and the UK.
Carestel operates highway Restaurants under such names a Route 66, Rasta and Monarch. It currently has 26 Restaurants in Denmark and 44 in Sweden. The central kitchen in Varberg, to be in operation at the end of 2000, will provide ready-made dishes to Restaurants in Scandinavia as well as Great Britain. "We already have one kitchen in Varberg, and now weâ??ll build a second adjoining it," explains Lars Backström, managing director of Nordiska Vägrestauranger, which is participating in planning the new Facility. "Sweden is a good location now that Carestel is focusing on the Scandinavian market.
