The Causeway Club

The Causeway Club in Southwest Harbor, Hancock County, United States | Golf Club

Welcome to The Causeway Club, Southwest Harbor, Maine, United States. The Causeway Club was founded in 1920. Our golf course sits on the shores of lovely Norwood Cove with Acadia National Park, Flying Mountain, Beech Mountain and Acadia Mountain as a spectacular backdrop. Our pool and tennis courts perch on a point of land overlooking Somes Sound, a seven mile fjord, Great Harbor and the Cranberry Islands. Foot access to the village of Southwest Harbor, Maine is by a classic granite causeway spanning a reversing tidal falls. Overhead the entertainment is provided by osprey and bald eagles.
The Causeway Club golf course offers nine holes of link style golf. With multiple tee options, the front nine plays to 32 par measuring 2266 yards. The back nine of 2410 yards plays to 33 par.
We take pride in our small greens of velvet bent grass. Velvet has the finest texture of all the bent grasses and is one of the oldest grasses used for golf courses in Europe. It has served us well for over 80 years exhibiting strong resistance to disease and drought all while offering the golfer a smooth, velvety putting surface. Errant shots off of four tees bring water into play and, while length is not a major factor, proper club and shot selection will be rewarded.
