The name "Chiangmai Thai" comes from Chiangmai, the principal city in mountainous northern Thailand and the capital of the region, which also named Chiang Mai.
With the establishment of Chiangmai Thai Restaurant in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Ron (Weng) and Petchara (Maow) Pradit wished to continue the Chiangmai tradition of with beauty, hospitality, good manners and most of all exquisite food.
Ron and Petchara each have 17 years of experience in Thai cuisine. Ron started 18 years ago in California, where he learned about the culinary arts. He returned to Boston and he worked as a chef in various Thai restaurants. Then in the late 1980s Ron and Petchara received the opportunity to establish their own restaurant.
The first Chiangmai opened in 1989 in Amherst, N.H. Four years later Ron and Petchara decided to expand to the Seacoast area and opened the present Chiangmai Thai Restaurant.
Ron's expertise and love of gourmet cuisine enable him to create magnificent dishes that are pleasing to the eyes and to the palate.
