Welcome to Darwin Flying School. Darwin Flying School covers all aspects of flight training for the novice and experienced pilot. From our premises at Darwin Airport, highly qualified instructors will guide you through your General Flying Progress Test (GFPT), incorporating flight theory, dual and solo Flying training, and the GFPT Flight Test which, on successful completion, allows you to carry passengers within the boundaries of the training area around Darwin. The GFPT course takes about four weeks if conducted full time, longer on a part time basis.  Darwin Flying School can assist overseas visitors (through CASA) to obtain a certificate of validation or licence conversion for use within Australia, and also offer an Aircraft Hire service, a great way to see the Northern Territory's unique tourist attractions, or to visit remote localities off the beaten track.  The Flying course offered by Darwin Flying School requires a minimum 25 hours of Flying in a Cessna 172, the world's most popular training aircraft. This consists of approximately 20 hours of dual Flying and 5 hours solo. However, this estimate may vary depending on student performance. Experience has shown that the average person takes about 30 hours to reach the required standard when Flying one or two times per week.

Darwin Flying School is well situated for easy access to well known locations throughout the Territory and the Top End, including Ulhuru (Ayer's Rock), The Olgas, Alice Springs, Kununnarra, Kakadu National Park and many other desirable destinations, ideal places for a dry season visit by light aircraft.

If you have a pilot's licence it is feasible to hire an aircraft (after a check flight) and visit the places of your choice over a two or three week period. Aircraft available for private hire purposes include a C172 Commanche Twin, a C182 and a C210-B. Other aircraft may be hired depending on availability.
