Eden Villa Bed and Breakfast is a century old villa located in a quiet cul-de-sac in Mt. Eden, an established inner city suburb of Auckland in New Zealand. Mount Eden village is 2 minutes walk away and offers a great selection of cafes, restaurants, independent book shops, boutique gift stores etc. The home has a spacious garden that is filled with mature trees, shrubs and the northerly facing aspect allows for all day sun and a great view of the extinct volcano, Mount Eden. Guests can relax on the deck in private and tranquil surroundings.
We are a short drive, or bus ride, to the shopping precincts of Auckland City, Newmarket and St Lukes Mall. Eden Park, the home of New Zealand rugby and cricket is an easy walk away. Parking is available.
Your hosts have lived in Mt. Eden for 25 years and enjoy their garden, hosting visitors and meeting new people and sharing their Eden Villa Bed and Breakfast. Guests at Eden Villa Bed and Breakfast can feel at home whether relaxing in the garden on a warm day or sitting by the fire in winter. Tea, coffee and baking are always available.
We offer beautifully appointed and very generous sized guest suites, decorated tastefully and individual in character. The suites have modern bathrooms that offer heated tile floors, New Zealand toiletries and hair dryer. The bedrooms are heated in winter and air-conditioned in summer for your comfort. Comfortable beds (king or twin) with luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets and duvets.
All guests have the use of a very comfortable lounge, where you can enjoy a drink whilst reading, watching TV or just relaxing. High speed wireless Internet connection and Sky is available.
Meals: Our tariff includes a delicious seasonal breakfast served daily between 7.30 and 9.00am. Should you require breakfast outside of these hours, we will certainly try and accommodate. Please just let us know.
Smoking: We please ask that you smoke on the veranda or in the garden.
Sports facilities: Tennis courts are moments away, whilst there are public pools and a number of gymnasiums close by that can be utilised on a casual basis.
Mount Eden is recognised as being one of the few remaining genuine villages in greater Auckland?s area, only moments from the city?s centre. Mount Eden has retained a boutique feel as one of Auckland?s most established and prestigious suburbs, renowned for its tree lined streets, old historic villas and a wonderful variety of specialized shops to browse and enjoy.
Cafes and Restaurants
There is an excellent choice of restaurants and cafes moments walk away in Eden Village including the award winning Molten, the delightful Bowmans and the ever popular Eden Cloakroom bar and De Post Belgian style pub. The local cuisine on offer includes Thai, Japanese, European, Indian and French.
Shopping
If you are interested in art, nkb is a boutique gallery in the hub of Mt Eden Village, with a passion for high quality New Zealand artwork whilst Mt Eden Picture Framers offer sculpture and other media works.
Time Out Bookstore is renowned for its excellent and eclectic range of books and CDs.
The Village Winery is an independent specialist shop where you will find a great selection of New Zealand wines, whiskeys and spirits.
Attractions
Mt Eden itself overlooks the Village and is a short walk or drive to the summit where there is an excellent view of Auckland city, the harbour and surrounding suburbs.
On the side of Mount Eden, in an old quarry site are Eden Gardens which in the five acres the gardens cover is the largest collection of camellias in the Southern Hemisphere. Eden Gardens have a very pleasant café in delightful surroundings.
The Auckland Museum is situated close by in the Auckland Domain, while the Auckland Art Gallery is located in the City Centre. Just up the hill is the Auckland SkyCity Tower and Casino.
The viaduct is stunning in the summer, with lots of great cafes and people watching. From here you can catch a ferry to a number of the islands for day trips (see below). Around the harbour is Kelly Tarlton's Underwater World and Mission Bay is a great spot to spend an afternoon at the beach.
The Auckland Zoo and Museum of Transport & Technology is towards the west and you have miles of coast line and beaches over the North Shore as well as the very quaint and fashionable village of Devonport.

Harbour and Gulf Ferry Trips
Fullers Ferries run regular ferry trips to the historic Devonport (10 minute trip), Rangitoto Island (25 minutes) and to Waiheke Island (45-50 minutes), the jewel of the Hauraki Gulf. They make excellent day trips, featuring excellent walks, great beaches and cafes. Waiheke Island is also renowned for its vineyards and artists.
Eden Park
Eden Park, Home of New Zealand rugby and cricket is only a 15 minute walk away. The redeveloped Eden Park will have a seating capacity of 60,000 people and will be the venue for the 2011 Rugby World Cup Final and other games. See edenpark.co.nz for upcoming events.
Getting around
The inner city attractions of Downtown Auckland and the Viaduct are a minutes away by car or by bus. Buses run from Eden Village into both the city centre sites and Viaduct harbour and Newmarket, Auckland heart of shopping. Each journey would take 15 mins each way.
