The Hotel Porta Rossa in Florence is the oldest Hotel in the town of Firenze having been established way back in 1386. 6 centuries old our Hotel is a historic building which is protected by the ministry for the arts. The Porta Rossa is located in the heart of the ancient historical city centre making quick and easy access to all of Florence's major attractions very easy - the Ponte Vecchio , Duomo , Via dei Tornabuoni and the Uffizi Art Gallery are all extremely closeby and literally just a few short steps away.
The Hotel Porta Rossa itself is a medieval palazzo of three floors, 78 rooms all with private facilities and two elevators, in a historical setting: lead framed windows, ceilings with ornate frescoes , parquet flooring, chandeliers, golden mirrors, antique furniture, a billiard room , huge lounges, and in the guest rooms, beamed ceilings and giant wardrobes.
Former distinguished guests include Byron , Stendhal, Lord Acton and Balzac who all stayed here in the 19th century. More recently many famous actors and film directors have been our privileged guests although for privacy reasons we are not at liberty to reveal their names!
Apart from the Hotel Porta Rossa's location very near the Ponte Vecchio , our biggest selling point is something that no other 3 star Hotel Florence can boast - we have our billiard room and host professional tournaments. Use of the billiard table is strictly for guests of the Hotel Porta Rossa Florence.
All rooms are with private facilities. Pets welcome.
