The John Carver Inn is named after the first elected governor of the Plimoth Colony, Governor John Carver, and the Inn maintains a deep connection to the history that draws so many to Plymouth MA in the United States.   The original colony consisted of separatists seeking a new life and opportunity in the "New World". One hundred and two of these Separatists boarded the Mayflower and began their more than two month voyage across the Atlantic Ocean.

The John Carver Inn is set in historic downtown Plymouth, MA situated on the original Pilgrims' settlement. On the hill just above the John Carver Inn is the original Burial Hill where many of the first settlers' graves reside.  Across the street is the 1640 Sparrow House, the Jenny Grist Mill, and the Brewster Gardens which leads you on a nature walk to Plymouth Rock, the famous Mayflower II, and the historic Plymouth, MA waterfront.
