The Lizard Lifeboat in The Lizard, Helston, Cornwall is a RNLI charity that saves lives at sea, and have been at the Lizard since 1859. The Lizard Lifeboat Station is located in one of the most rugged and remote settings in all of Great Britain, and when the boat is launched the crew have to run down some 200 steps from the station car park to the boathouse in Kilcobben Cove. With a series of lifeboats having served the stations over the years, the Tamar class all-weather lifeboat Rose arrived in July 2011, with a range of 250 miles and a top speed of 25 knots, she can carry a crew of 7. The Lizard Lifeboat station welcomes visitors to come view the boathouse and organised trips can be arranged with prior notice, bearing in mind this is an operational station and emergencies may take them away at any time. They also welcome all donations and regularly do fund raising events so look out for those.
