"Good Evening - I am the Grand Haven Musical Fountain." These words have greeted viewers each summer night on the waterfront at Grand Haven from across the Grand River since 1963. For the next half hour or so the Musical Fountain lights the darkness with colorfully moving water displays choreographed to music from a library of about a hundred programs.

The once largest Musical Fountain in the world is situated at the westerly end of the city shopping district established to serve the areas first inhabitants. Only recently has the size been exceeded in a Musical Fountains. The unique character of this fountain has not been duplicated. But we are getting ahead of ourselves.
