Welcome to Ocean View, Stornoway, Scotland. Ocean View is a traditional croft house overlooking Loch Mor Bharabhais and the open coast of the North Atlantic. Fourteen miles from the airport and ferry terminal at Stornoway, it stands in its own grounds and is surrounded by a croft field. The house is refurbished to a high standard, and features a comfortable lounge with open hearth (peat supplied), sun lounge opening onto patio, dining room, large fully equipped Self Catering kitchen with dining area, two large bedrooms, two bathrooms, exposed stone and pine walls, and oil-fired full central heating.
The shore and a waymarked coastal path are eight minutes walk from the house. Excellent salmon and trout fishing can be had in Loch Mor Bharabhais, at the bottom of the croft field behind the house. Inland lies one of the most extensive peatlands in Europe, offering unlimited opportunities for moor and hill walking, loch fishing and bird watching. This coast is a nesting area for many sea and shore birds, as well as a major migratory departure point for Iceland and the Arctic regions. A pair of otters inhabits a nearby burn, and seals and whales can be seen in the coastal waters of Lewis. The Self Catering Ocean View house, Stornoway, is within a few miles of the Calanais Stone Circle and many other archaeological monuments and cultural sites of interest, as well as of galleries and artists' studios.
