Climb to the Historic 1860 Lighthouse Station via one of Port Washington's distinctive hillside stairways. St. Mary's Catholic Church, a landmark atop St. Mary's Hill at the north end of Franklin Street has appeared in ever so many photographs of downtown Port Washington. There is some debate over the highest of the seven hills but St. Mary's with its 'stairway to heaven' and its grand steeple allays all competition!
The Historic Walking Tour of Port Washington Wisconsin is a self-guided tour giving insight into the many original buildings that lend character to this Lake Michigan Wisconsin port town. The Port Washington Garden Club established perennial beds now maintained by Friends of Rotary Park volunteers. The results are a significantly enhanced visual experience of Port Washington's lakefront area which encourages residents and visitors to 'stop and smell the roses' while taking in the views of Lake Michigan from our Milwaukee Area Bed and Breakfast.
