The River Gardens Cafe is a long established Victorian tea gardens and licensed Cafe located on the banks of the River Esk in Whitby, England, United Kingdom. Set in three acres of landscaped gardens it's been a favourite family spot for decades.
The River Gardens Cafe serves cooked meals and home baking all day, there is
ample free car park and children are welcome as well as dogs (on leads).
The River Gardens was bought in the early 1970's by Pat and the late Bill Perry. It had been a tea garden since the turn of the century but was in a run down state. Over the years it was redesigned.
Pat, at 75, still helps, maintain the gardens and enjoys propagating & discovering new plants. The River Gardens Cafe in Whitby, England, is run by Pat and Bill's daughter Jackie.
The River Gardens Cafe are also renowned for our popular Whitby Crab Sandwiches and homemade Scones with Jam and Cream.
The Cafe is licensed, allowing you to relax and enjoy a glass of wine or cool beer with your meal whilst watching the beautiful River Esk flow by.
At the River Gardens Cafe we try and source our food locally.
We also offer a range of buffets for private parties/functions and celebrations. Menus are available upon request.
We have a large free car park and we accept coach parties too (please contact us in advance, we have various menus available from snacks through to Whitby caught Cod and Chips).
River Gardens Cafe has an 18 hole putting green in the middle of our gardens.
