Welcome to St Luke's School in Southsea, United Kingdom. St Luke's School is a community serving its local community in which there are many pathways of opportunity for success. Pupils dare to dream that their potential can be recognised. No child at St Luke's School is invisible, and we expect all parents, guardians and carers to work in partnership with us.
Work on the new Science department at St Luke's School is now
drawing to a close. The school has spent over £1/2 million this summer
putting a new roof on to the top of Lovett Building and completely
refurbishing the science department on the floor below. This work will
greatly improve the learning environment for both students and staff in
future years.
St
Luke’s School was founded in Southsea in 1865 and provided education up to the
school leaving age. In 1933 it became a secondary school and shortly
afterwards was rebuilt. The buildings were destroyed during the Second
World War and separate provision had to be made for boys and girls. In
1962 St Luke’s School was rebuilt and became one of the early comprehensive
schools, from 1975 to 1985 it had its own sixth form. Today St Luke’s
School has over 750 pupils aged 11 to 16 and is the only Church of England
Voluntary Aided comprehensive school.
