The Stone Barn Cottage in Holsworthy sleeps 2 - 10 +2 in a no smoking property in England in the United Kingdom. The Stone Barn Cottage is a luxurious barn conversion from an original old Farmyard building over 100 years old. The Stone Barn Cottage retains all its character and integrity with ragslate roof, slate floors, original timbers, bespoke doors and windows and high quality master craftsmanship and attention to detail of our local workforce in Holsworthy, evident everywhere you look.

Located at the heart of Beer Mill Nature Trails it was crucial that The Stone Barn Cottage reflected the importance of the environment to us and we have used every opportunity throughout the project, to minimise any impact on the environment

Enter the Stone Barn Cottage, via the sandstone courtyard, into the kitchen/dining end of the spacious 18 x 5 metre open plan living space, with traditional Farmhouse furniture, slate floors and quality fitted kitchen including Britannia range cooker and full compliment of A or A+ rated kitchen appliances, equipped with all you will need to prepare and serve everything from a simple snack to sumptuous, celebratory feast for 10.

Relax on either side of the huge stone fireplace with double fronted cast iron log burner (first basket of logs provided from our own or locally coppiced wood). The sitting area is furnished with quality, comfortable squishy sofas, cushions and Fairly Traded accessories and a super 37 inch plasma flat screen TV and DVD. Locally made-to-measure, lined curtains (throughout the house) and warm colourful rugs round off the home from home atmosphere.

Upstairs to master bedroom one with luxury ensuite shower room - kingsize bed with quality pocket sprung mattress and organic sheets and bedding will ensure a comfortable nights rest. Wake up slowly and enjoy the view through the huge south-facing hayloft window overlooking the patio and hedgerows.

The second kingsize master bedroom upstairs, also with luxury ensuite shower room and all the same quality furnishings and fittings as bedroom one. Leave the curtains open and let the sun wake you through the east-facing hayloft window or relax in the evening and watch the moon rise and count the stars with some of the best night sky views in England.

The lower ground floor houses 3 more bedrooms: a further king size double bedroom with double sofa bed for plus 2, large enough to use as a second sitting room if you need 5 minutes peace and quiet and two further twin bedrooms. All 3 ground floor bedrooms have environmentally friendly bamboo woodblock floors and rugs, high quality, locally made furniture and fittings and beds all have pocket sprung mattresses and organic bedding.

The tiled downstairs bathroom offers a large feature bath for when you really must have a soak or a further separate shower room so there?s no queuing for the bathroom. The utility/boot room keeps the rest of the house free of washing and wellies, swimming costumes and towels depending on the season and weather, with a sink and A rated washing machine, clothes airer and tumble drier.

Wildlife Activity/Games room - the small barn next door the Stone Barn is available for most of the time for guests to use as a games/recreation room with portable CD player, table tennis table, table football and wildlife activities, including TV for viewing live pictures from nearby hidden wildlife cameras. There are also separate toilets and handwashing facilities in the activity room. Occasionally Elaine and Dick will be hosting visits from local schools and interest groups and at these times the wildlife activity centre will not be available to holiday guests. If you would like a guided walk or would like to take part in organised wildlife activities please talk to Dick and Elaine about arrangements according to the season of the year.

Outside and Garden - The Stone Barn is situated in the old Farmyard of South Beer Farmhouse, with its own private parking area for up to 6 vehicles, huge gently sloping lawns, securely fenced and surrounded by newly planted indigenous hedgerow and private courtyard and south-facing patio with furniture and bbq. Pets are welcome and purpose built kennel and run is available in the courtyard. As with Hill Cottage and South Beer Farmhouse, the Stone Barn is a private, individual property, however large parties of up to 20 (plus cots) might like to hire both the Farmhouse and the Barn as they are neighbouring properties - please talk to Dick and Elaine.

Central heating throughout the house is provided by our ground source heat pump, maintaining a comfortable ambient temperature from September to the end of May.
# Triple thermal insulation and double glazed windows (all FSC wood) ensure everywhere stays warm and cosy without costing the earth.
# Hot water is supplied by discreet solar panels on the lower south-facing roof
# Rainwater harvesting system used for toilet flushing and washing machine ensure minimum waste.
# All wood in the building is either reclaimed or Fsc certified.
# Walls are painted with environmentally friendly Ecos paints and woodstains are water based with low VOC count.
