Elliot Lake Nuclear and Mining Museum also boasts the beautiful Denison Doors which once graced the main entrance of the administration building of the Elliot Lake Denison mine, the world's largest uranium facility of its time. Janet Head Lighthouse2016-04-13
The Janet Head Lighthouse in Gore Bay on Manitoulin Island, Ontario is a stunning attraction owned by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and is leased to the Municipality of Gordon Barrie Island. This is a functioning lighthouse with an occulting, solar-powered LED light that flashes on for three seconds at a time, and runs 24 hours every day of the week. The Janet Head Lighthouse was built all the way back in 1879, and was originally lit with a kerosene lamp, and magnified with a thick circular glass for magnification, and the then lighthouse keeper was required to light it at nightfall and extinguish it every morning, and interestingly on sunny days would draw a heavy curtain round the room to prevent light reflecting off the glass and starting fires in the nearby woods, in foggy weather he would sound a fog horn at intervals. The Great Laxey Wheel or Lady Isabella is a fascinating tourist attraction and the largest working waterwheel in the world built all the way back in 1854 to pump water from the Isle of Man's Great Laxey Mine. Today you can climb to the top of this 72 and a half foot diamater wheel, and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views afforded from this brilliant example of Victorian engineering, you can also follow the paths and even go underground. The Great Laxey Mine Railway2016-03-03

The Great Laxey Mine Railway offers a wonderful journey on this historical railway originally constructed to serve the Isle of Man's Great Laxey Mine. Passengers can today ride in a tiny carriage running from the old Laxey lead mine entrance, a quarter mile along the line, which once carried lead and zinc ores from the mine, and on to the Valley Gardens which is now the terminus, and once was the mine's washing floors. Along the way you'll pass beneath the main Laxey to Ramsey road and the Manx Electric Railway and through the longest railway tunnel on the Island, hauled by a replica of one of the original steam engines.
