Cape Verde info

Cape Verde is a string of islands on the west coast of Africa. The islands: Sal, Santiago, Boavista, Sao Vicente, Fogo Maio, Santo Antao, Sao Nicolau and Brava feature long beaches of endless white sand, lapped by turquoise ocean. The uninhabited islands were discovered and colonized by the Portuguese in the 15th century, and Cape Verde subsequently became a trading center for African slaves and later an important coaling and resupply stop for whaling and transatlantic shipping. Feel the historical mystery of colonial style towns like Ribeira Grande, the first European City in the tropics. The people of the Cape Verde are unique, being a cultural mix of their two nearest neighbours – Senegal and Brazil, as is the traditional music, a scintillating hip-swinging fusion of Samba and Salsa sprinkled with tribal African.
