Hilterfingen is a political town in the district of tuna of the Canton of Bern in Switzerland.
The villages of the right bank of Thun, which comprise Hilterfingen and Hünibach, are at an attractive location because often they are described as the gold or Riviera coast of Lake Thun. At this privileged position, there are some stately buildings. The locks Hünegg Bühl and calibration from the second half of the 19th century is one of the most impressive buildings on Lake Thun and depicts evidence of wealth. Another castle, the Chartreuse, was only a few decades after the building re-demolished.
The village consists of the two hamlets and Hünibach Hilterfingen village, located on the right bank of Lake Thun and with the neighbouring communities and tuna Oberhofen together. The municipality border with tuna runs from the north of the Aare Chartreuse Hünibach to the pass and then southeast to the upper end of the Hilterfingen and Tannenbühlwalds. From the farm Saali go in a south-westerly direction down to the Lake Thun. The district of Hünibach follows the same creek, while the creek flowing through Hilterfingen simply means creek.
The Louelibach separates the two parts of town from each other. From the town area of 280 hectares, nearly half, 47.0%, are covered by forest and trees. The other 40.5% is a settlement area, and only 10.4% of the municipal area is used for agricultural purposes. The remaining square meters are unproductive land.
Hilterfingen is bordered to the north and northwest of Thun, in the north-east Heiligenschwendi and in the southeast Oberhofen.
Hünegg Castle was built from 1861 to 1863 by the Berlin architect Heino forges on behalf of the Prussian baron Parpart in the style of the Loire castles. Today, the castle houses the Museum of living culture of historicism and Art Nouveau.
