Sourced with thanks from Visit Fortaleza A modern metropolis with greenish-blue sea, beautiful beaches, soft wind and a happy and hospitable population, Fortaleza is the ideal destination if you want to know one of the most beautiful capitals of the country. From Barra do Ceara, in the west region of the city, an important historical center, to Farol Beach, it has both quiet and exciting beaches, such as Futuro Beach, with kiosks selling typical foods and drinks. Not to mention the nightlife, which is very exciting, bars and parties with the typical music of the region: forro. Surrounded by the modern architecture of the buildings contrasted with the jangadas at Mucuripe Beach - hand-made catamarans of fishermen on which the visitor will sure feel like taking a ride - Fortaleza is a permanent invitation to pleasure. So many beaches and so much sun incentive the practice of water sports or just diving in the blue waters. The city is a point of support for the adventure tourism in the region. Hikes start early in the morning along the seaside, with a stop to freshen up with coconut water or juices of typical fruits. Fortaleza is the land of lobsters and seafood-based (such as shrimps and crabs) cuisine. The visitor can't miss the sun-dried meat with rice, white beans and coalho cheese.

A region of descendants from a mixture of Indians, Negroes and Portuguese people, the native cearense is hospitable by nature. The culture and religiosity reveal this type of being, as it can be checked in the pieces at Ceara Museum. The visitor can also admire bobbin lacemaking and filet lace work, hammocks and bottles with pictures made of color sand in art centers or at a street fair every night at Meireles Beach. Fortaleza Carnival, called Fortal, happens once a year and off-season, always in the last week of July. Musical trucks go through the four kilometers of Seashore Avenue, followed by a crowd that increases year after year. Sourced with thanks from Dilos.com/Fortaleza
